Emancipate The Immigrants Forum For August 1

 
CaribPR, NEW YORK, N.Y., Fri. July 15, 2005: On Emancipation Day, Monday August 1, 2005, CIS Youth Core, Inc., in association with the Caribbean World News Network, will host the first in a series of presentations under the theme “Emancipate the Immigrants.” 
“The impact of immigration laws continues to be a challenge for many, especially those who are seeking and awaiting benefits,” says Irwine Clare, head of CIS.  “The need for information and awareness is of utmost importance. As important is the need for us as a community to become more civic minded and actively participate in opportunities for relief that are beneficial.”
The group is working in collaboration with a number of clergy leaders to present the forums to get church leaders involved in the lobbying effort, especially given the introduction of the “Secure America & Orderly Immigration Act (S. 1033 / H.R. 2330), which, if passed into law, will help millions of immigrants obtain legal status in the U.S.
The first event is set for The Door Restaurant at 163-07 Baisley Boulevard in Rochdale from 9-11 am while the lunch time event is set for the Bronx Bethany Church of the Nazarene and will be hosted by Dr. Sam Vassell from 1 pm.
