Title: Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest 2K7 To Roll Into The Big Apple


CARIBPR, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. June 1, 2007: Officials of ‘ Jamaica’s Greatest, The World’s Best’ reggae festival will roll into the Big Apple on June 12 th for the annual New York kickoff of another Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest. The media launch party is set for the S.O.B’s nightclub, 204 Varick Street at West Houston in Manhattan from 7 p.m. and is being presented this year by VP Records. Media practitioners will be able to mingle with Summerfest officials and sponsors while toasting with ice cold Red Stripe. This year, Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest is celebrating its 15 th year and Executive Director of Summerfest Productions, Johnny Gourzong, revealed that the majority of the 2007 line-up for the July 15-21 show is largely confirmed. On Sunday July 15 th , the event will get underway with a Beach Party featuring the Fab 5 band as well as popular sound systems and deejays. Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest will continue on Thursday July 19 th with Xplosion featuring a stellar line-up of the hottest reggae stars under the sun. They include Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Cham, Elephant Man, Movado, Lady Saw, Vybz Kartel, Vegas, Anthony B, Chuck Fenda, Wayne Marshall, Macka Diamond, Ninja Man, Voice Mail, Busy Signal, Aidonia, Gyptian, Lutan Fyah, Kip Rich and Munga Honourable. On Friday night, July 20 th , fans can get ready for Evolution, with Shaggy, Beres Hammond, Buju ‘ The Driver’ Banton, Morgan Heritage, Richie Spice, Da’Ville, Etana and Christopher Martin. The curtains come down on the reggae part of the year on Saturday July 21 st with Tanya Stephens, Tarrus Riley, Collie Buds, Cherine Anderson, Tessanne Chin and Bajna sensation, Alison Hinds. Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest will be staged in the ‘Vibes City’, Montego Bay for another year. Title sponsors, Red Stripe, are back on board again for the third year of its contract. Carlo Redwood, Group Marketing Manager, said that he is expecting another great production from Summerfest Productions that will attract a wide cross section of people to the event. Wayne Lawrence, marketing director of Red Stripe, disclosed that Red Stripe would be bringing new and innovative things to the festival including a specially made long neck bottling of Red Stripe for the Red Summer. Zachary Harding of Wisynco says that he is pleased to have renewed the sponsorship of Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest for the fourth year in a row. He disclosed that Ocean Spray would be Wisynco’s lead brand for Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest this year as the official non alcohol beverage. Meanwhile, Sponsorship and Promotions Manager at Digicel, Maurice Bryan says that Digicel signed a three-year contract with Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest because it is by far the most successful event on the entertainment calendar in Jamaica.   Air Jamaica, has also signed on, again as the official airline of the festival as has the Jamaica Tourist Board. Tracey Ann Menzies, marketing manager at Air Jamaica, said that she was happy to be aligned with a high quality entertainment product like Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest. Menzies said she hopes that the partnership will help to leverage the Air Jamaica brand and affirm its role as a truly Jamaican product.
