Reggae Sumfest Facilitating Easier Access to Hotel Rooms

CaribPR Wire, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. May 29, 2009: If you haven`t yet confirmed your accommodations for Reggae Sumfest already, it`s not too late to take a pick from your choice of all inclusive or non-all inclusive hotels. Festival organisers say they are putting out extra effort to ensure that rooms are available for the thousands of international visitors expected for the entertainment explosion that is Jamaica`s best reggae festival. `This has become one of our priorities because we know that we attract a lot of visitors, and that this festival fills many hotel rooms,` says Johnny Gouzong, Executive Director of Summerfest Productions. The world`s greatest showcase of reggae music will take place from July 19-25 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. A beach party on the 19th followed by three days of epic live performances will captivate the thousands of tourists and Jamaicans alike who make the trek each year to the Mecca of reggae music festivals. As is the case each year, Summerfest Productions is busy exploring ways of making Reggae Sumfest, even better. `We`re working with a very experienced Tour Operator who has negotiated excellent rates with the hotels in Montego Bay and we have established an email address for persons attending the Festival to contact the office in order to get information and help with booking rooms,` he adde.
The email address, [email protected] , is monitored daily by a team of persons who are well trained in handling complicated bookings issues, and customer service.     `Our ultimate goal is to make it easier for people to make a decision about where they want to stay and enjoy Jamaican hospitality, while they prepare to be entertained by the Greatest Reggae Show on Earth,` the Festival`s Marketing Manager Marcia McDonnough said, while acknowledging that persons have experienced difficulties in the past with booking rooms.   `This year, with the addition of several thousand rooms in the surrounding areas, there is more than enough space to accommodate our patrons.` The Festival has also devoted a section of its website to accommodation.   Persons can view a list of hotels in Montego Bay, as well as read short reviews and other information on the properties. Organisors say they will continue to add more properties as the deals are finalised.   `We are putting a great deal of emphasis on the availability of rooms to our patrons. Our website addresses the whole issue of travelling to Jamaica, and specifically to Montego Bay, while concentrating a lot on where to stay in Montego Bay,` added McDonnough. `We plan to add some hotels in Negril as well, for those persons who like the laid back feel of that area and don`t mind the drive.    With the highway between Negril and Montego Bay, it now takes a relatively short time to travel between the two points.` Some of the hotel options available for patrons include the 5 star Fiesta Grand Palladium, which is a mere 25 minutes from the Sangster International Airport. This hotel boasts some 1000 rooms, a fitness centre, a `club` for children, seven restaurants, and five swimming pools, and a spa. Or if you want to be close to the action, there is the Doctors Cave Beach Hotel complete with pool, Jacuzzi, gym and one of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the island. Its located is located squarely on the Hip Strip, which pulsates with activities and nightlife, in addition to being only minutes away from the Sumfest venue
Other hotel options can be found on the Reggae Sumfest official website, www.reggaesumfest.com , and Summerfest Promotions is encouraging people not only to secure their rooms early, but also to let them know of any difficulties that they experience in getting the rooms or information. `We have developed a partnership with the hotels, they are offering special rates for Reggae Sumfest patrons, and we are here to provide support as best as we can. They can call us, go on our website, and email us,` Gourzong said.

In addition to their own growing catalog of songs, Ashford & Simpson wrote and produced for Ben E King, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Quincy Jones and re-wrote a version of “”Aint No Mountain High Enough”" for Diana Ross that became a number one record. Her album “”The Boss,` not only gave her another hit song but a title as well.   In the 80’s Ashford & Simpson signed with Capitol Records and their hit “”Solid as a Rock”" continues to be a signature song for the duo.
Ashford & Simpson joins a Thursday night line-up that opens with award-winning multiplatinum superstar, Robin Thicke; British Grammy Award-nominated hip hop/R&B singer, rapper and producer Estelle, who is best known for her hit single “”American Boy;”" Los Van Van, a Cuban band led by bassist Juan Formell, the Reunion Jazz Quartet and Jewish reggae singer, Matisyahu.

-KASSAV Comes to S.O.B.’s Meet the Press on July 25th–

–Pre-Celebration to Concert at Amazura in Queens– NEW YORK, N.Y., Tues. July 22, 2008 – On Friday, July 25th , S.O.B.’s invites you to meet the members of Caribbean Super-Group, Kassav , up-close-and-personal. The creators of zouk music, Kassav will be in NYC for an exclusive live performance, presented by S.O.B.’s, at Amazura in Queens on Saturday, July 26th. To preview this momentous concert event, Kassav will make a special appearance at S.O.B.’s weekly Friday Manhattan Haitian Dance Party, to meet with their fans and members of the press. S.O.B.’s weekly Manhattan Haitian Dance Party is the longest running French Caribbean party in Manhattan, having featured the most popular groups in Konpa and Zouk like T-Vice, Tabou Combo, Sweet Micky and many more. In addition to Kassav’s appearance, there will be a live performance by DO-LA , an innovative young band that combines the sounds of konpa and R&B.
Kassav performed a legendary sold-out concert at S.O.B.’s in July 2007, which was reviewed by Jon Pareles of the New York Times , who described the show: “”with a sold-out audience at S.O.B.’s, Kassav had obviously not been forgotten. Audience members shouted along on nearly every song, singing not only the words but also the zigzagging horn-section lines. And Kassav ‘ has had so many hits it had to pack them into medleys.”" This performance created such a demand for the group that they had to return this year at a larger venue, this time armed with material from their new album All U Need Is Zouk. Since the album’s release, the heat has been turned up a notch, and Kassav has toured non-stop in front of sold-out audiences, including six back-to-back sellouts at the Zenith in Paris.
Zouk means “”party”" in Creole and is a rhythmic style of dance music, with origins in Guadeloupe and Martinique, and Kassav lives up to the genre’s name; every Kassav has consistently yielded hit songs, classics and set the bar higher for creativity and showmanship. Fans not lucky enough to catch Kassav ’s performance last year at S.O.B.’s, now have the opportunity to catch them up-close-and-personal.
