The Jazz Showcase is the oldest historic jazz club in Chicago, Illinois. It was founded in 1947 by Joe Segal and is now owned and operated by Wayne Segal, Joe Segal’s son.

Alexander is an American classic. His performances have been called pure magic by many journalists and jazz fans around the world, and his sets are undoubtedly “a refined concept of groove.” This extraordinary musician continues to tour the world relentlessly with various projects, delighting a global audience drawn to his vibrant personality and soulful message. His energetic pieces, documented on more than 70 CDs, draws upon the timeless verities: endless melody-making, effervescent grooves, sophisticated voicings, a romantic spirit, and a consistent predisposition “to build up the heat and kick up a storm,” as Alexander puts it.

In the course of any given performance, Alexander applies those aesthetics to repertoire spanning a broad range of jazz and Jamaican musical expression – the American songbook and the blues, gospel and bebop, calypso and reggae. Like his “eternal inspiration” – Erroll Garner -  Alexander is cited as the fifth greatest jazz pianist ever in The Fifty Greatest Jazz Piano Players of All Time (Hal Leonard Publishing) and mentioned in Robert Doerschuk’s ‘88: The Giants of Jazz Piano.’

CaribPR Wire, New York, NY February 1, 2016 – At 17 years old, a serendipitous encounter with Frank Sinatra and his long-time pal Jilly Rizzo changed the trajectory of Jamaican-born pianist Monty Alexander’s career forever: Alexander would soon become the house pianist for the famed Jilly’s club in New York City and develop a unique relationship with its most famous patron.

Sinatra’s centennial elicits fond memories of Alexander’s time spent at the intimate hangout, and with the help of GRAMMY® Award-winning and DownBeat Critics Poll-dominating singer Kurt Elling, he will share stories and anecdotes from a treasured and rare perspective. A masterful pianist, Alexander’s career spans five decades and includes collaborations with some of the most important figures in jazz, like Milt Jackson, Miles Davis, and Dizzy Gillespie, as well as an illustrious recording career as a leader.

National touring artist Elling, referred to by The Guardian as, “a kind of Sinatra with superpowers,” will provide his vocal interpretation of the classic tunes, of which he is no stranger to. Joining the duo will be bassist Hassan Shakur, guitarist Frank Vignola, hand drummer Robert Thomas Jr., and drummer Dennis Mackrel. This early, nurturing period in which the young pianist and an iconic hero spontaneously mused on saloon songs up into the wee hours of the night is a Valentine’s weekend treat sure to satisfy both nostalgic and contemporary tastes.

Sinatra songs featured in the concert will include “Young at Heart,” “I’ve Got You Under my Skin,” “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning,” “Luck, Be a Lady Tonight,” “The Summer Wind” and “Fly Me to the Moon.”

Tickets to Monty Alexander & Friends can be purchased through at jazz.org, 24 hours a day, or via CenterCharge at 212-721-6500, open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Box Office, located on Broadway at 60th Street, ground floor. Box Office hours: Monday–Saturday from 10am to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain) and Sunday from noon to 6pm (or 30 minutes past curtain).

Fabian Is Not A Marley

DNA TESTS PROVIDE THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — A series of DNA tests prove definitively that the man who calls himself Fabian “Marley” is without question not related to Bob Marley. Instead, the tests demonstrate conclusively that Fabian is the natural born son of Othneil Stanford.

“The DNA tests show with scientific certainty that Fabian Marley is not the half-brother of either Rohan Marley, Stephen Marley or Robert N. Marley. In addition, similar DNA tests show the probability of Fabian Marley being the son of Othneil Stanford is 99.99%,” said Dr. Karl A. Reich, Scientific Director of Independent Forensics DNA Testing & Technologies. Independent Forensics is a fully accredited and well renowned DNA testing laboratory in Illinois.

The Marley family has repeatedly maintained that Fabian was an imposter who only asserted his familial relationship to Bob Marley in order to advance his music career. But for years Fabian had refused to undertake a DNA test with an accredited forensics laboratory. His most recent manager, Clayton Thomas, finally convinced Fabian to undergo the DNA test in October 2015 at an accredited DNA laboratory, and the results unequivocally demonstrate that Fabian cannot be the son of Bob Marley.

Fabian’s mother, Ms. Raphie Munroe, said about her son, “This is crazy talk. I never in my life told my son that Bob Marley was his father. I don’t know how he came up with this, but it is not true. It never happened. I don’t know where he got this from, but no one in the family ever said this even once.”

Fabian’s eldest sister, Sandra Stanford Walker, confirmed, “Something is wrong with him, this is not normal behavior. Everyone knows he is not a Marley. His family, his friends, everyone in our community knows he is not Bob Marley’s son. Fabian is troubled and we want to put an end to his lies.”

A spokesperson for the Marley family stated, “The Marley family is pleased to finally have this matter behind us. We have said repeatedly that this man who calls himself Fabian is not the son of Bob Marley. The tests now prove we were correct. We hope he can finally accept the truth of his own true heritage.”

Fifty-Six Hope Road Music, Ltd., is the company founded by Bob Marley’s wife and children and the legal entity holding the trademark, publicity, persona and other intellectual property rights to legendary reggae artist Bob Marley.

During ADE Global Sessions Aruba there will be a host of exclusive industry meetings, strategy sessions, top notch Q&A’s, pop-up parties and more alongside Electric Festival.

The program of ADE Global Sessions Aruba focuses on the exploding electronic dance music market in the Latin American and Caribbean region. Hit U.S. Game Show, Family Feud, Hosted By Steve Harvey, Set to Premiere on Broadcast Television in the Caribbean

pavilion

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hit U.S. Game Show, Family Feud, Hosted By Steve Harvey, Set to Premiere on Broadcast Television in the Caribbean

CaribPR Wire, Port of Spain, Trinidad, Sun. July 26, 2015: The top-rated U.S. television game show, Family Feud, will now be shown on broadcast television exclusively across the English-speaking Caribbean. The move will significantly expand public access to the show across the region.

Since its premiere in 1976, Family Feud (U.S.) has remained one of television’s most popular and enduring game shows. The show features two families who compete for cash and cars by trying to guess the most popular answers to a survey-type question posed to 100 people.

Family Feud (U.S.) is hosted by the multi-hyphenate standup comedian, actor, author, deejay and Emmy® Award-winning talk show host Steve Harvey. As host, Harvey engages competing family members in hilarious repartee, and his honest reactions to their responses have brought a fresh appeal to the show. Family Feud (U.S.) continues to shatter ratings barriers with its widespread popularity and most recently rose to the top of the ratings charts for both syndicated game shows and all syndicated programs in the United States.

While piracy in the region for this type of programming has been an ongoing problem, the broadcast television rights to Family Feud (U.S.) have been officially acquired by Pavilion Entertainment from FremantleMedia International, authorizing broadcast stations across the English-speaking Caribbean to air the program. Currently in the Caribbean, broadcast television is the most widespread choice for content consumption. Therefore, with this new deal, the television audience for the already popular game show is expected to increase significantly.

“We are very happy to bring such fun and family-friendly programming to regional broadcasters,” said Colette Hosten, Corporate Communications Manager for Pavilion Entertainment. “Family Feud (US) has some of the highest ratings among all of daytime television. It is a hit, nationally syndicated game show and rates high among women, adults ages 25-54, and multi-generational families. Because of this extensive appeal, we expect that viewers and advertisers alike will fully embrace the game show once available on broadcast television across the Caribbean market.”

Taped in front of a live audience from its home in Atlanta, Georgia, Family Feud (US) is produced by FremantleMedia North America. Gaby Johnston and Jennifer Mullin are Executive Producers and Jim Roush is Executive in Charge of Production.

Legendary Piano Master and Jamaica’s Commander Of Distinction, Monty Alexander Remembers Nat ‘King’ Cole

Jamaica Award-Winning Jazz Great Monty Alexander

Jamaica Award-Winning Jazz Great Monty Alexander

CaribPR Wire, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. July 9, 2015: Legendary piano master and Jamaica’s Commander Of Distinction, Monty Alexander, will lead a heartfelt exploration of one of his musical heroes, Nat ‘King’ Cole, later this month in Boston.

Alexander, along with special guests Caterina Zapponi, his lovely wife and singer, and Allan Harris who recorded a Cole tribute of his own entitled ‘Nat King Cole: Long Live the King;’ will lead the ‘Monty Alexander: Remembering Nat ‘King’ Cole’ salute at Scullers Jazz Club at the DoubleTree Guest Suites, 400 Soldiers Road in Boston, Massachusetts on July 25th.

Alexander, whose performances the Wall Street Journal describes as “an outrageously good time,” says Cole became an inspiration from the moment he heard his albums in his parent’s home as a little boy in Jamaica.

He later saw Cole perform live. That performance and music from his childhood left an indelible mark on Alexander. So much so that in 2009, he released his recording ‘Calypso Blues: The Songs of Nat ‘King’ Cole.’

Alexander later played on Natalie Cole’s classic tribute album to her father, ‘Unforgettable: With Love.’

“Non Dimenticar,” Cole’s Italian hit, was lovingly recreated with Zapponi helping Harris on vocals. On the tune, Alexander reprised the lovely, lilting Nat-like piano component that he played behind Natalie Cole on “Unforgettable: With Love.”

Show times on July 25th are 8 and 10 p.m., respectively and the Boathouse 400 Restaurant and Scullers Jazz Club are offering a dinner and show package at $75 per person. For Tickets log on to http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=6037235&pl=scullers or for more information call 617-562-4111 or email: [email protected]. Photo Release — ArKay Beverages Announces the Possibility of Opening an ArKay Social Cafe With an Investment as Low of $10,000

CaribPR Wire, FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 28, 2015: Other cafe franchises may ask you to invest as much as $250,000 and pay upfront fees to open a coffee shop.

A photo accompanying this release is available at http://www.globenewswire.com/newsroom/prs/?pkgid=32487

ArKay Social Cafe is the best alternative to franchises because it is not asking for any fees, royalties, or entry tickets.

ArKay’s concept is unique and offers a brand new universe of integrating alcohol free liquor stores and gourmet cafes with high-end bakeries under the same roof.

The ArKay Universe features six areas, including a coffee shop, party shop, ice cream parlor, gourmet food store, cocktail bar, and alcohol-free liquor store.

You can socialize over a virgin liquor drink, while eating an alcohol free rum sponge cake or a delicious canape with smoked salmon.

Your investment may vary, depending on the size, location, and features of your ArKay Social Cafe, but it’s possible to open a small ArKay Social Cafe with an investment as low as $10,000. Later, you can open a larger ArKay Cafe, with all available features, for as little as $100,000, and profitability of as much as 50% ROI.

ArKay affiliates are free to decide the amount of their initial investment, depending on their budget. This is a plug and play opportunity; the more features are added to the cafe, the more it will cost.

ArKay will assist its affiliates in opening their ArKay Social Cafe, and they will never ask you for any fees, royalties, or commission on sales of any kind. The affiliate will only be required to buy all the products that ArKay produces — alcohol free liquors, cocktails, and beers, as well as ice cream, pastries, dressing, bakery products, etc.

Our affiliates will be able to re-invest their earnings in no time, expanding their ArKay Social Cafe with more features.

ArKay Social Cafe is the best choice available on the market. It’s a place for the family to enjoy, with no need for liquor permits, no fees, and no royalties. It’s the best place to hang out with people of all ages, from 9 to 99!

‘Voice Mail’ releases “Next Level” Album to Introduce a New Genre in Jamaican Music

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Voice Mail

Voice Mail

CaribPR Wire, STUTTGART, Germany, Weds. Jan. 7, 21014: The Jamaican Duo “Voice Mail” has released a new album on Jan. 5th. Voice Mail is known for harmony-loaded vocals, to spread excitement for dancing and for a focus on the good things in life! The album is entitled “Next Level” and features 14 tracks of which 3 had been previously released.

Track List:

1. I’m Going Out

2. Party Commander

3. Do What I Wanna

4. Summertime

5. United

6. I Got Love

7. Party Is On

8. Spaceship

9. Here And Now

10. If I Could

11. Attention

12. Let Go

13. Jump Up

14. One Life to Live

For this record, we’ve decided to explore untapped territories,” said Craig Jackson of Voice Mail. “We wanted to do something different, something with influences from other countries and musical styles. That’s why we partnered with two overseas producers: Dave Edwards from Brooklyn, New York and The Titans from Stuttgart, Germany. There were no limitations as to what music genre to go with. We just went into the studio and experimented with different instrumentals to see where our creativity flowed. It was a very intuitive production process. I think the result can hardly be described in terms of a genre. I urge you to listen to the songs and tell us what you think it is?”

Producers_new

“The production process for ‘Next Level’ was in a sense unique. We’ve tried to identify ‘white space opportunities’ between popular songs that exist today in order to drive innovation for tomorrow. Our approach to enable innovation & invention was based on giving both producers and artists creative freedom within the production process,” said Michael Freudenberger, CEO Captivate Music.

“Voice Mail frequently flew to New York or Germany and usually we spent a week in the studio, recording one song a day, every day. For those recordings we used random instrumentals from the Internet. Later, the producers screened the vocals to decide on which song they want to work. Once they were finished with a first mix that sometimes only featured a hook or verses, Voice Mail went back to the studio (in Jamaica) to record more material. The forth and back continued as long as it was necessary to get everyone satisfied. The end results were later mastered at Sterling Sound in NYC.

Production_process_new

“Next Level” stands for a reinvention of not only our music but also our image. Reinvention is crucial to capture people’s attention and have them remain interested,” said Kevin Blair of Voice Mail. “Our broader focus is more towards that than to fulfill every expectation of people that are familiar with the band. Since we lost one of our members, we’ve had to reposition “Voice Mail”. Our audience today is loyal but also in constant flux and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I think there are two categories of fans we can attract with this album.

“Over the past couple of years, pop and EDM music has become extremely popular in Jamaica. At many Jamaican parties today, DJs play a mix between music from local artists and that of global artists (such as Rihanna, Nicki Minaj or Flo Rida). Our intention here is to unite both worlds, the local with the global. I think Jamaica is ready for an act that bridges the gap.

“On the other hand, we see artists in the U.S. using Dancehall elements in their music. Every time I hear that I ask myself, why is Jamaica not delivering that music to international consumers? There are endless talents in Jamaica and there is the demand from international audiences for Dancehall drums, vocals etc. So our secondary target group are those fans.”

The album is a joint venture between Scikron Entertainment Group, Captivate Music and The Royalty Network, Inc.

“White Witch of Rose Hall” is based on a well known story in Jamaica about “Annie Palmer” – an English-Irish woman born in Haiti in the early 1800s. When her parents died of yellow fever, she was adopted by a nanny who taught her to practice witchcraft and voodoo. She moved to Jamaica and married John Palmer, owner of Rose Hall Plantation. Annie murdered Palmer along with two subsequent husbands and numerous male plantation slaves. Annie’s spirit is believed to haunt the Great House of Rose Hall to this day.

“I am honored to collaborate with Michael and his family on a project that pulls from such a rich culture and vivid history,” says Arthur Wylie. “We not only share a love for Jamaica and commitment to paying homage to this extraordinary tale, the Rollins also bring an unparalleled level of enthusiasm and business acumen that stems from building a billion dollar empire from industries as varied as real estate, casinos, and hotels.”

“Jamaica has been near and dear to my heart,” said Michael Rollins. “To have a project like this, from Jamaica, filmed in Jamaica, is something that our family has been working to realize for over fifty years now. I’m excited to be working with Arthur, Jeffrey, and Dale to finally make it a reality.”

The Producers are working hand in hand with JAMPRO, an organization that works closely with local and global entrepreneurs seeking to tap into the many investment and trade opportunities in Jamaica. Global’s goal is to bring additional film opportunities to Jamaica while providing employment opportunities for its residents.

“JAMPRO is pleased to be associated with a project of this magnitude,” says Carole Beckford, Film Commissioner at JAMPRO. “The impact it can have on the local industry is incredible, and we anticipate a great working relationship with the team. We look forward to the end result.”

To mark the announcement of the films, Global Renaissance invited both US and local media, business associates, investors, and other VIPs to a weekend filled with activities centered on the celebration of Jamaica. Guests were hosted at Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall in Montego Bay, led on island excursions by Chukka Tours, and treated to an exclusive finale party called “The Destination Experience: A Global Renaissance” at Goldeneye Resort. Sponsors included Visa Signature, Range Rover, Jaguar, Virgin Atlantic, and Magellan Jets. Transportation throughout the weekend was provided by JTL Tours.
