Global Sae-A’s Decade-long Educational Endeavor in Haiti Bears Fruit: First Ever Graduation at S&H School

CARACOL, Haiti, Sept. 5, 2023 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — In a remarkable milestone that underscores a decade of transformative impact, the inaugural graduation ceremony of S&H School, established in 2013 by Global Sae-A in Caracol, northern Haiti, has marked a turning point in the nation’s educational landscape.

This year, a cohort of 47 students stands on the cusp of the future, having completed their journey through S&H School’s comprehensive educational program. These graduates stand as a testament to the remarkable power of free, high-quality education offered over ten years, encompassing their entire scholastic journey from elementary to high school.

Of these graduates, 11 have successfully secured employment, while 36 are primed to continue their studies at universities, showcasing the potency of S&H School’s holistic approach. Last year, Global Sae-A pioneered internships for aspiring graduates at Sae-A Trading’s international branches, providing a seamless transition into society.

Attending in person were Global Sae-A Chairman and school founder WK Kim, Global Sae-A CEO KM Kim, Haiti government officials, Director of the Regional Ministry of Education, and local community leaders, as well as a bevy of international stakeholders connected virtually.

Amidst Haiti’s economic challenges since the 2010 earthquake, compounded by an unstable environment, Global Sae-A’s unwavering commitment has extended beyond education to encompass epidemic prevention initiatives and significant medical volunteering. With a firm belief that education is the catalyst for national development, S&H School emerged as a cornerstone in the reconstruction process in 2013.

Initially established as an elementary school through collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), S&H School’s subsequent expansion to include secondary education in 2017 transformed it into a premier comprehensive institution. A meticulously crafted curriculum, elite faculty, multilingual subjects, and a focus on nourishing growth through balanced meals have made S&H School a unique educational haven in Haiti.

Uniquely, S&H School provides free tuition, books, supplies and lunches, a distinction setting it apart as one of the sole institutions in Haiti offering this provision. The incorporation of Hangul as an official curriculum subject since 2018 exemplifies Global Sae-A’s commitment to cultural exchange, fostering a vibrant educational environment. Additionally, orchestral music education enriches students artistically.

With approximately 700 students across 28 classes spanning kindergarten to high school, S&H School’s impact reverberates widely. Global Sae-A Chairman WK Kim, the school’s founder, expressed his pride in witnessing the small educational seed sown in Haiti a decade ago flourishing into empowered individuals poised to shape Haiti’s future.

Chairman Kim stated, “I urge our graduates to embrace their potential and embrace ‘courageous challenges,’ an ethos integral to Global Sae-A’s values, thereby becoming agents of transformation in Haiti’s history.”

Global Sae-A’s profound impact transcends the realm of education, resonating powerfully through its extensive humanitarian initiatives worldwide, under the aegis of the Sae-A Foundation. These endeavors stand as a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to global welfare.

Notably, the Sae-A Foundation’s compassionate reach manifested significantly in responding to urgent crises. In the aftermath of the devastating wildfires that swept through Indonesia last year, the foundation orchestrated the distribution of thousands of masks and substantial quantities of essential sustenance, providing solace to those displaced by the catastrophe. Similarly, during the harsh throes of winter, the foundation extended a benevolent hand to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. The provision of blankets and winter garments, valued at $2 million, offered both warmth and hope in the face of adversity.

Elevating its dedication even further, Global Sae-A, in partnership with the esteemed international NGO CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) and its affiliate Ssangyong Engineering and Construction, earmarked an impressive commitment of $8 million for humanitarian aid. This comprehensive pledge encompasses diverse initiatives, including the financing of shelters tailored for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The collaboration between these entities underscores a resolute drive to effect positive change in communities in need.

Expanding upon its ethos of corporate social responsibility (CSR), Global Sae-A extends its influence through subsidiary ventures in Haiti, Guatemala, Indonesia, and Vietnam. These localized efforts epitomize the company’s endeavor to harmonize CSR strategies with specific community needs. Scholarships empower aspiring minds, visits to orphanages sow seeds of compassion, and environmental protection initiatives foster sustainable practices, all reflecting the company’s holistic approach to conscientious business stewardship.

In summation, Global Sae-A’s enduring impact traverses continents and scenarios, emboldening its status as a beacon of corporate benevolence. The amalgamation of education and humanitarianism underscores the company’s mission to catalyze positive change on a global scale.

To obtain the accreditation, ImSan underwent a five-day on-site review in June. A team of JCI reviewers evaluated compliance with hospital standards across various areas, including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and individual rights and responsibilities. In addition to their own observations and interviews, the reviewers conducted patient tracers, which followed patients through the course of their care while receiving services.

With its multidisciplinary team of medical experts, Baptist Health International, part of Baptist Health South Florida, offered comprehensive advisory services, assessments, training, and readiness support to ImSan in preparation for the JCI survey.

“We extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Rajnherc and the ImSan team on its remarkable achievement of obtaining Joint Commission International accreditation. Through our long-standing partnership, ImSan has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in healthcare,” said Rogelio E. Ribas, M.D., corporate vice president of Baptist Health International. “This accreditation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire ImSan team. We are proud to be part of ImSan’s journey and look forward to continued collaboration in advancing healthcare excellence in Aruba and the Dutch Caribbean region.”

Baptist Health International has had a relationship with ImSan for more than 10 years, providing consulting services and guidance throughout various expansion projects. These include the construction and relocation of the dialysis department; the completion of three operating rooms; the opening of the medical surgery area; the construction and launch of Aruba’s first radiation oncology unit, in collaboration with Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute; and the design and construction of the facility’s new central energy plant. Baptist Health International also facilitated the renovation of ImSan’s Eye Center and Clinic, Emergency and Radiology departments, building lobby and support areas.

“With continuous support and inspiration from our partners at Baptist Heath International, we embarked on our journey to excellence. Striving for excellence in healthcare is like reaching for the stars should you only reach the moon you have already made a giant leap forward,” said Joel Rajnherc, director of ImSan. “Achieving JCI accreditation is the ultimate testimony to the success of that journey.”

St Kitts and Nevis announces extension to Citizenship by Investment Programme Sustainable Growth Fund Limited Time Offer due to unprecedented demand

CARIBPR WIRE, Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 29, 2023: International investors have been clamouring to take advantage of one of the best deals in the investment migration industry this year – St Kitts and Nevis’ Sustainable Growth Fund (SGF) Limited Time Offer (LTO) which allows investors to gain approval for alternative citizenship in the country in as little as 60 days for a reduced fee.

In December 2022, the St Kitts and Nevis Head of the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU), Michael Martin, announced the enactment of the updated St Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Regulations 2023, which included the introduction of the LTO for the SGF investment option effective 1 January 2023 – 30 June 2023.

On 29 June 2023, Michael Martin made the following comment regarding the LTO:

“We have received an overwhelming response and demand for our Sustainable Growth Fund investment option through the Limited Time Offer and felt that we had to extend the offering for another seven months until 31 January 2024. International investors continue to see the value of the world’s first and finest Citizenship by Investment Programme and this proves it”.

The SGF remains the quickest and easiest route to alternative citizenship in St Kitts and Nevis and now until 31 January 2024, a main applicant can acquire alternative citizenship by contributing only US$125,000 to the SGF and receiving approval in principle within 60 days of acknowledgement by the CIU of submission of their application.

Under the LTO, the minimum SGF contributions are as follows:

  • Single applicant – US$ 125,000
  • Main applicant and a spouse – US$150,000
  • Main applicant and up to three dependants – US$170,000
  • Each additional dependant under 18 – US$10,000
  • Each additional dependant over 18 – US$25,000

Revenue from the SGF has facilitated economic development and social upliftment in the country. The SGF is used to provide financial support to educational institutions, and medical facilities, as well as support infrastructural development, increase tourism, preserve local culture and heritage and support sustainable growth initiatives in the twin-island nation.

Discerning investors are seeing the benefits of being part of St Kitts and Nevis’ success story. Following upgrades to the CBI Regulations, the country now offers one of the most secure and best-regulated investment migration offerings in the world.

This means that international investors looking to hedge their bets in a stable and growing economy should look no further than St Kitts and Nevis.

This extension is a fantastic opportunity for investors to obtain citizenship through the LTO. This is a final extension and from 1 February 2024, the minimum SGF contribution will increase to the amounts prior to the LTO period.

The country is making sure that it has only the best to offer international entrepreneurs and families who have realised that global powerhouses are no longer illustrious investment options due to security risks. Investors want to ensure that they can safeguard their families and wealth in a global economy that has been offering nothing but uncertainty since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Smaller governments such as that of St Kitts and Nevis have found ways, through CBI, to protect themselves from global shocks, offer favourable business policies aimed at growing corporations in international markets and, by using international funds channelled to the SGF, can diversify and grow their economy to meet global needs.

St Kitts and Nevis continues to create a name for itself as a financial nexus in the Caribbean with an attractive CBI programme underpinned by a sound legal framework and robust multi-layered due diligence.

For nearly 40 years, St Kitts and Nevis has been the pioneer of the global investor immigration industry and those who recognise this are taking advantage of the LTO.

West Indies Surgeon, Lowell Hughes, MD, And Co-Inventors, Granted 2nd Patent Ushering In A New Era Of Precision Surgery

Innovation born from Anguillan ingenuity has earned seven USPTO utility patent awards since the pandemic, showing that even in challenging times, human creativity and determination know no bounds.

CARIBPR Wire, The Valley, Anguilla, Tues. May 23, 2023: Dr. Hughes, an Anguillan plastic surgeon has co-invented a method for unassisted robotic surgery at the quantum scale. Far from being a play on words, the invention aims to eliminate human error from one of medicine’s most ambitious and intricate skills – surgery. The surgical innovation represents the second patent for Hughes in the month of May, a noteworthy achievement, considering that only 13% of issued patents are awarded to doctoral scientists and engineers, and multiple patent grants are even rarer. Technology and societies evolve with innovation, robotics, artificial intelligence, advanced anatomic imaging, and programmatic processes have advanced substantial over the last decade. While surgical advancements have historically lagged, this latest invention is positioned to transform the field of microsurgery, enabling techniques to operate at the atomic scale, well beyond the limits of human dexterity and traditional surgical instruments. This invention, entitled “Unassisted Robotic Surgery Employing Paramagnetic Halo Metallofullerenes as Minimally Invasive, Precision Scalpels or Micronization Particles through Magnetic Field Manipulation and Targeted Exenteration Patterned by Programmed 3D Imaging Using Needle or Magnetic Energy Access and Microelectronic Semiconducting in Non-stationary Wafer-less Space” addresses the complexities and challenges of human biology, encompassing minuscule glands, intricate anatomic pathways, microscopic neuroanatomy, and nanoscale pathophysiology (Patent No. 11,653,984). Dr. Hughes, a board-certified plastic and general surgeon, envisions early utility of this breakthrough as a potential cure for chronic dry eye disease, which affects nearly half of the population due to clogged eyelid glands. The innovation could redefine the limits of surgery and patient care, enabling treatment of previously untreatable conditions and unlocking new possibilities for challenging procedures that have been hindered by the limitations of human hands and macroscale surgical instruments, such as deep brain surgery. Hughes Medical Center offers a comprehensive suite of procedures using a healthcare model that features both local and visiting specialists that deliver globally recognized care. Their diverse and dynamic practice of physicians from the West Indies, United States and Europe foster deep connections with Anguillan patients, providing exceptional care alongside intellectual engagement.  In addition to this patent accolade, Dr. Hughes has two additional inventions under review that focus on weight loss and malnutrition mitigation and stunting in children. His motivations towards these major health challenges are regionally charged, as childhood stunting affects nearly 30% of the population in nearby Haiti while antithetically 20% of children in this same population experience obesity. Dr. Hughes emphasizes the importance of fostering innovation in the West Indies. “Our West Indies family of nations must break from our economic past by using our creativity and hardscrabble environment as inspiration and motivation. Our most favored competitive asset is our endemic abilities, and we must teach our children to read, first and foremost, and secondly, fuel our kids with STEM education.” Dr. Hughes went on to explain the need for local manufacturing of inventions in the Caribbean, highlighting that high technology factory floorspace requirements are significantly smaller for innovations like the upcoming malnutrition solution and cure for stunting. He cited a previous invention for mitigating STDs and UTIs, explaining that the atomic scale matter required to meet annual global demand would only fill up a kitchen cabinet or two, showcasing the potential for the region to become a hub for advanced manufacturing. In 2023, Anguilla emerges as a hotspot for innovation and invention, propelling the region to new technological heights and industrial possibilities. This resurgence harkens back to the days of the “sea island cotton era” and the first resident cottonseed removal gin, now proudly displayed at the Anguilla Heritage Collection Museum in the East End. The cotton gin, once a significant capital investment equivalent to purchasing multiple homes, highlights the historical importance of Anguilla’s cotton yield and its role in British textile industry dominance. The island’s rich industrial past also includes the Sombrero phosphate mines, which employed 130 Anguillan workers and produced the fertilizer that replenished the depleted soils in the U.S. Southern States following the American Civil War. This vital contribution helped save the war-weary, hungry, and disheveled population from starvation. Although the lucrative mineral lease payments made directly to the war-depleted UK crown coffers have never been formally acknowledged or credited, they remain an unforgettable part of Anguilla’s ancestral legacy. Caribbean Heritage Athlete For 48th Annual Colgate Women’s Games Finals

By Eva Dilmanian and Jared McCallister

CARIBPR WIRE, NEW YORK, NY, Tues. May 2, 2023: A Caribbean heritage athlete has solidified her place for the finals of the 48th Annual Colgate Women’s Games, set for Sunday, May 7th at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island in New York.

Guyana-rooted Kushanna Medas-King is leading CWG’s Elementary B 800-meter run. Already an accomplished distance runner at her young age, Kushanna is a Colgate Games veteran, who also competes in events across the U.S, and has been nationally ranked for her best performances, thanks to the coaching of her father, Guyana- born Andy Medas-King.

The finals will be a melting pot of competitors. Nearly 300 of the nation’s top young female track and field athletes, and future stars, from the U.S. East Coast will compete. Among them is also Central American heritage high school scholar and athlete Prizila Negrete of The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, N.Y. She was a top point scorer in the CWG’s HS Shot Put after the Semi-Finals.  Her parents were born in Honduras and because she holds dual citizenship in both the U.S. and Honduras, Prizila will be competing with the Honduran National team this year.

“I trained with them last summer when I went to Honduras. And the first meet that I’m scheduled to compete for Honduras is the Central American Games in Guatemala, Under 18 age group, in June,” she said. Upon graduation from high school, she will be attending Bucknell University in Pennsylvania, with help from an athletic scholarship.

Following three weeks of exciting preliminary and semi-finals competition at Queens College, the top eight runners, high jumpers and shot putters in each category will compete for trophies and more than 100 educational scholarships from the sponsoring Colgate-Palmolive Company.  Scholarship values have doubled this year to $2,000, $1,000, and $500, respectively.

In addition to thrilling competition, this year’s Colgate Women’s Games finals will feature a marching band, special award presentations, and complimentary Colgate-Palmolive health and hygiene products for guests, while quantities last.  Finalists will also receive complimentary refreshments from event supporter, ShopRite.

Attendance is free but tickets are required to attend the finals.  Get free tickets HERE

Doors open at 8:30 a.m. for finalists and 9 a.m. for guests.  Events will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m.

Tuskegee Airmen Elect Dominican-Born President & Features Jamaican-Born Aerospace Engineer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New Tuskegee Airmen ECCTAI President, Gabriel J. Christian, and Keynote Speaker Robert Rashford Bring Caribbean Leaders to Forefront

Tuskegee-Youth-Fundraiser

CaribPR Wire, WASHINGTON, Thursday, June 27, 2019: On December 1, 2018, Gabriel J. Christian, Esq., became the first Caribbean-born President of the Tuskegee Airmen East Coast Chapter.

This summer, Christian led the Tuskegee Airmen by organizing and hosting a historic fundraising event which featured two prominent Caribbean nationals during its 2019 Tuskegee Youth In Aviation Breakfast Fundraiser on May 25th in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

The theme for this year’s fundraiser event was ‘Honoring the Legacy of Excellence’ as featured on CBS News (WUSA9) in Washington, D.C. The full news feature is available on CBS online at https://on.wusa9.com/2J9tIzi.

The East Coast Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc,. (ECCTAI), is the largest and most active chapter in the national organization and brings together — in the spirit of friendship and goodwill — all who share in the aspirations and successes of the men and women who pioneered military aviation in the Tuskegee Airmen; a group of Black military pilots who fought in World War II.

As the newly elected President of ECCTAI, Gabriel J. Christian, a native islander from The Commonwealth of Dominica, is the first Caribbean-born President to serve in this role. Keeping the legacy of his father, Wendell McKenzie Christian, who was a British Army World War II veteran.

Christian is an attorney, an author, and a long-standing and active volunteer member of ECCTAI for over a decade whilst also serving as Lead Counsel at his Bowie-based law practice: The Maryland Law Offices of Gabriel J. Christian & Associates. Having been raised by a decorated fireman father and a dutiful mother who impressed upon him the importance of civil services, Christian seeks to preserve the legacy of the proud Tuskegee Airmen. “Their successes expanded the bounds of freedom and equality for all people, at home and abroad.”

The event’s keynote speaker, Jamaican-native islander, Robert Rashford, is an internationally known aerospace engineer who makes tools for use in outer space. His wide-ranging work has earned him many awards. This includes four awards from NASA for his work on the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite and the Hubble Space Telescope. Caribbean Countries Agree to Protect Endangered Largetooth Sawfish

Dutch Proposal to List the Species under the Cartagena Convention Succeeds

ROATÁN, Honduras, June 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — Today, on World Environment Day, the critically endangered largetooth sawfish gained a lifeline as Caribbean countries unanimously agreed to add the species to Annex II of the Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife (SPAW) Protocol under the Cartagena Convention. Seventeen member governments are thereby obligated to impose strict national protections for the species and cooperate regionally to recover populations.

“We are pleased that governments from across the Caribbean have seen the value of saving the iconic and irreplaceable largetooth sawfish from further regional extinction,” said Olga Koubrak, legal advisor for Sealife Law. “Sawfish are among the world’s most endangered marine species and urgently need strict legal protections wherever they remain.”

All five sawfish species worldwide are classified as Endangered or Critically Endangered under the IUCN Red List. Largetooth and smalltooth sawfish were once common in the Caribbean but are now seriously depleted. The smalltooth sawfish was added to SPAW Annex II in 2017. Caribbean countries thought to still have sawfish in their waters include the Bahamas, Cuba, Colombia, and Costa Rica. The level of national sawfish protection varies, however, and regional conservation initiatives are lacking.

“Today’s decision is warranted and welcome, as time is running out for sawfish,” said Sonja Fordham, president of Shark Advocates International. “The success of this measure depends on prompt and robust implementation of associated conservation commitments. We thank the Netherlands for proposing sawfish listing and urge continued engagement to ensure sawfish protection programs are developed across the Caribbean, before it’s too late.”

Found globally in warm waters, sawfish can grow to nearly 20 feet. Like other rays, low reproductive rates leave them exceptionally vulnerable to overfishing. Incidental catch is the main threat to sawfish; their tooth-studded snouts are easily entangled in nets. Despite increasing protections, sawfish parts are used for curios, food, medicine, and cockfighting. Habitat degradation also jeopardizes survival.

Sealife Law (SL) brings legal information and education to ocean conservation. Shark Advocates International (SAI) advances science-based policies for sharks and rays. SL and SAI have joined with marine researchers from Havenworth Coastal Conservation (HCC), CubaMar, and Florida State University to form a Caribbean sawfish coalition, supported by the Shark Conservation Fund. SAI, HCC, and CubaMar are projects of The Ocean Foundation.

Cloud Carib Joins Discussion on Caribbean Disaster Resiliency ahead of Hurricane Season at Barbados Conference

CaribPR Wire, BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, June 04, 2019: Last week, organizations from across the globe, including 20 Caribbean countries gathered in Bridgetown, Barbados to discuss disaster resilience, priorities and solutions to tackle climate change and disaster risks at the Understanding Risk (UR) Caribbean conference. Hosted by the World Bank in partnership with the Government of Barbados, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the European Union (EU), the week-long conference brought together leaders in risk and disaster management as well as private and public sector organizations to collectively discuss and formulate an action plan to address and take steps to reduce disaster risk within the Caribbean.

The event featured demonstrations hosted by the University of the West Indies, Harvard University, NASA, the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Nassau-based Cloud Carib and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, to name a few. All this in time to kick start efforts for improved hurricane preparedness.

Barbados Prime Minister, the Honorable Mia Amor Mottley offered these thoughts in a keynote address at the opening ceremony, “Failure to act is largely because we do not believe that the problem is important enough to require such action. That’s the hardest thing for us as Caribbean people to accept. It is our contention that it is only when moral and ethical leadership is given both at the national level and the international level that we must summon the courage to fight down these battles. Until such time, it is a form of idle entertainment for those who choose to watch,” Mottley continued, “I pray that those of you gathered here will help us as policymakers understand the art of the possible. For you, as technicians more than anything else, will frame what is technically possible, whether at the level of infrastructure, science and technology, capacity to finance or general policy making,” highlighting the importance of disaster preparedness and the need for agreement and action at all levels of government and the private sector. Mottley’s comments struck a chord for the importance of disaster recovery specialists like Cloud Carib who came on as a partnering sponsor for the conference.

The Bahamian company held a panel discussion on ‘Strategic Approaches to Infrastructure Sustainability’.  On the panel was Cloud Carib’s Mark Arruda, Vice President of Solutions, Shiva Bissessar, Managing Director of Pinaka Consulting, Ann Wyganowski, Vice President, of HZX Business Continuity Planning and Yohannes Kesete the Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist at the World Bank. The panel focused on the critical issues influencing infrastructure sustainability from physical to digital infrastructure and addressed strategies on how to approach maintaining sustainability and resilience in a region where natural disasters are common, and resources limited. To take a deeper dive into these complex issues Cloud Carib also hosted a half day workshop and training session led by Stelios Xeroudakis, Cloud Carib Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Mark Arruda, Eamon Sheehy, Cloud Carib, Director of Public Sector and Ann Wyganowski.

“This event is timely, the region is looking for a path to better resiliency, the last few hurricane seasons have devastated the region and with the current trends and impacts of climate change, we expect the devastation to only increase. It is important the private sector and organizations like Cloud Carib be involved in this discussion. Our services offer entities, both public and private, the opportunity to improve their resiliency and reduce their risk profile,” said Xeroudakis.

WRB Energy: What Will It Take to Develop More Renewable Energy in the Caribbean?

TAMPA, Florida, March 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ – With the abundance of clean energy resources in the Caribbean—sun, wind, water, and geothermal—it’s a natural environment for more renewable energy generation.  So why isn’t there more renewable energy produced in the Caribbean, and why aren’t there more projects in the pipeline?

With more than three decades of experience developing renewable energy projects and operating utilities, WRB Energy can address some of the challenges that hinder increased renewable energy generation in the Caribbean.

Contain costs

Most small Caribbean island nations lack economies of scale to absorb the high costs and complexities of developing relatively small renewable installations as compared to those in larger, more developed countries.  With relatively smaller populations, economies, and electricity demand, there are fewer kilowatt-hours produced to amortize the up-front investment expenses cost-effectively. However, as the prices for renewable energy equipment continue to decrease and technologies advance, solar, wind, and geothermal are increasingly more viable, least-cost options for diversified energy portfolios.

Flatten the learning curve

Government leaders with a stable long-term vision and implementation plans for increased renewable energy attract the best opportunities for project development. By working collaboratively, utilities, government, regulators and developers can help level the learning curve for initial projects.

Understand that land is precious

Securing appropriate land for project siting poses significant challenges. There is tremendous pride in land ownership, with parcels of land being passed on from generation to generation. Also, there is a history of informal land dealings, which leads to clouded property titles. Consequently, these issues can create local owner resistance to land transactions and long-term leases.

Clarify investment requirements

Banks, investors, and multilateral organizations have mandates, terms, securities and covenants that can be misunderstood in negotiations with governments, utilities and regulators. Policies and processes need to be clearly defined to avoid misinterpretation of project terms.

Harness a sustainable future

Developing renewable systems reliably and affordably requires due diligence to avoid electricity rate increases. It’s a long-term strategy requiring cooperation between stable government policies, flexible utilities, competent regulatory bodies, responsible investors, and credible development partners to design, develop and deliver renewable energy projects as promised.  Read more at https://wrbenergy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/FINAL-ENERGY-0032-2019-feature-article-3-4-19.pdf.
